Privacy Policy

Maker Matter is a trading name of Outer Limits Media, Inc., a Massachusetts corporation; “we” and “us” mean that company, which is the seller of record and the controller of the information described here.

This policy describes what Maker Matter collects when you use this shop, why we collect it, and who else handles it. It covers this website only.

What we collect

• When you place an order: your email address, your shipping name and address, and what you ordered. We keep the order so we can ship it, answer questions about it, and handle a return or refund later.
• If you create an account: your email address, a password stored only as a one-way hash, your saved shipping addresses, and your order history. An account is optional — you can check out as a guest.
• When you browse: a cookie that keeps your session and your cart, and, if you sign in, keeps you signed in. Nothing you put in the cart is an order until you pay for it.
• When you browse, on the server: standard access logs — your IP address, your browser type, and the pages you asked for — for security and troubleshooting, and we keep them for a limited time.
• If you arrive from one of our cards or adverts: we note that source on your order, so we know which card or advert worked.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe, on Stripe's own hosted checkout page. Your card number never reaches this shop and we never store it. We receive from Stripe only what we need to run the order: a confirmation that it was paid, the amount, and the shipping address you gave. Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.

Who else sees your information

• Stripe, to take the payment and to issue a refund.
• The United States Postal Service, which delivers your parcel — your shipping name and address go on the label.
• Amazon Web Services, which sends the transactional email described below.
• DigitalOcean, which hosts this site and stores our product images.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

Email we send you

Transactional email — order confirmation, shipping notice, refund notice, and the account emails you ask for, such as verifying your address or resetting your password — is sent from orders@makermatter.com. An account email address has to be verified by clicking the link we send to it before the account can be used.

Cookies

We use cookies that the shop needs in order to work: one for your session and cart, and the security token that protects the forms you submit. We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

Keeping and removing your information

We keep order records for as long as we need them for the sale, for returns and refunds, and for our tax and accounting records. If you want to know what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to close your account, write to orders@makermatter.com and we will take care of it.

Children

This shop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email orders@makermatter.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version replaces this one on this page.
