About Maker Matter

Maker Matter is a small shop built around a simple problem: you are two rows from the end of a project, the dye lot is long gone, and nobody stocks it any more.

So that is what we look for. We buy closeout lots, shop clearances, and discontinued colorways — usually in small quantities, sometimes a single skein or a single tube of beads. Then we list them one lot at a time, exactly as they came to us. Nothing here is manufactured on demand; when a lot is gone, it is gone.

Why the quantities are so small

Most of what we carry is measured in ones and twos. That is not a shortage — it is the whole idea. If you need one more skein to finish a sweater, a shop with a thousand of something new cannot help you; a shop that hunts down the last handful of a retired colorway can.

How we describe things

Every listing is written from the lot in front of us: what it is, how much of it there is, and what condition it is in. Photographs are of the actual goods. If a detail matters for matching a project and we know it, it is in the listing or the spec table.
